Ministry of Finance Announces Changes to Compensation Cess Rates

The Central Government of India has amended compensation cess rates under the Goods and Services Tax (Compensation to States) Act, 2017, effective from April 1, 2023. The changes, recommended by the Council, adjust the cess rates for various items listed in the Schedule of the Ministry of Finance’s notification No. 1/2017-Compensation Cess (Rate). The amended rates are specified in rupees per unit based on the retail sale price.
