DGFT Announces One-Time Relaxation for Export Obligations in Hotel, Healthcare, and Educational Sectors

The Government of India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced a one-time relaxation for export obligations for hotel, healthcare, and educational sectors under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme. According to a public notice issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, no average export obligation will be required to be maintained for EPCG authorizations issued for these sectors in the years 2020-21 and 2021-22. Additionally, the export obligation period may be extended without payment of composition fees for the duration equivalent to the number of days the period falls within February 1, 2020, and March 31, 2022. This relief measure is being provided in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. See Public Notice No. 53/2015-2020 dated 20.01.2023
