Paper import policies clarified by DGFT

The DGFT has issued a clarification on the implementation of the Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS) for certain products under Chapter 48 of the ITC (HS) schedule. As per the recent policy circular, all imports under this chapter will be required to register under PIMS as per the DGFT Notification No. 11/2015-20 dated 25th May, 2022. The circular addresses various questions from the trade and industry regarding the PIMS policies, including exemptions for small sample imports, non-commercial imports, and mandatory registration for imports through Advance Authorisation, DFIA, and ICGR. These guidelines will take effect immediately. See policy Circular No. 45-PIMS
