DGFT Announces Changes in Import Policies for Areca Nuts and Betel Nut Product Supari
Ministry of Commerce and Industry has amended the import policies for Areca nuts and Betel nut products. The Minimum Import Price (MIP) for Areca nuts under tariff lines 080280 has been revised from Rs. 251/- per Kilogram to Rs. 351/- per Kilogram. The import policy of Betel nut products under ITC(HS) 21069030 has been revised from ‘Free’ to ‘Prohibited’, but import shall be free if the CIF value is Rs. 351/- or above per Kilogram. These revised policies will not be applicable for imports by 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and units in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs), subject to the condition that no DTA sale is allowed. This amendment was made by the Central Government under the Foreign Trade(Development & Regulation) Act, 1992.
