CBIC issues amendment to customs notification for exemption of tracking devices on imported containers
The Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, has issued Notification No. 14/2023-Customs, amending the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 104/94-Customs. The amendment provides exemption from customs duty and integrated tax to devices such as tags, tracking devices or data loggers that are already affixed on the container at the time of import. This amendment is aimed at simplifying the import process and reducing the transaction cost for importers.
